Being a soaps editor is a pretty bizarre gig sometimes. It’s not all about sitting and watching my favourite shows and then working out how much to give away. Sometimes, I end up in dark Liverpool tunnels at 3am on a cold November morning watching a mammoth team of people execute an ambitious car crash stunt.
Metro.co.uk had exclusive access as the cast and crew of Hollyoaks worked together in pretty unsociable hours to make the upcoming tunnel smash disaster as gripping, exciting and artistic as possible.
With the tunnel closed to the public across the five nights and early mornings of shooting, everyone was in good spirits and trust us when we say there is a LOT involved when it comes to making that script become the episodes that you will see.
Ever the helpful soul, Daisy Wood-Davis, who plays fan favourite Kim Butterfield, was on hand to give us a guided tour and as she took us into the tunnel of torment (spooky), we watched the team hard at work.
Check out the video above for some of the footage and be sure to tune in from Monday 8th January on E4 at 7pm to see what the consequences are for Diane, Tony, Harry, Kim and the entire Maalik family as their lives are thrown into jeopardy.
