Emmerdale is set to air heartbreaking scenes for Rebecca White tonight as the confusion caused by her potential brain injury exacerbates her erratic behaviour, leaving her frightened and bewildered. And Home Farm owner Joe Tate is caught in the crossfire – and not someone that Rebecca really wants to make an enemy of.
Since being discharged from hospital, Rebecca’s state of mind has meant that she has been unable to be left alone and it has also posed questions about her capability of caring for her baby son Seb.
Things get worse tonight when she lets herself into Home Farm, believing that she still lives there. She is thrown by how different it all looks and sets about trying to rearrange it so that it is more familiar. When Joe comes in, she believes him to be an intruder and grabs a golf club, telling him to back off.
Rebecca’s frightened state causes her to lash out and hit Joe and her actions will prompt him to call the police – but will it become obvious to officers after arresting Rebecca that something is seriously wrong with her?
We have seen that Joe is not a man who gives up a grudge either – so will Rebecca’s attack leave her the target of another of his revenge plots. And will her connection to Robert Sugden make him think that there is more to her break in than meets the eye?
Whatever happens, Rebecca’s condition is going to push her to the edge and when a devastating diagnosis forces her to confront the tragic reality of her future, she will have to make a very difficult decision about what is best for Seb.
Having already lost half her family and much of her memory and independence, will Rebecca now need to say a painful goodbye to her son too?
Emmerdale continues on Thursday 8th March at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
