Baker Mayfield was recently asked by an unidentified team during the NFL combine process about what is his favorite beer.
Sports Illustrated reported the following:
He met with 11 teams in total: The Dolphins and Jaguars on the first night, and the Bills, Broncos, Browns, Jets, Giants, Saints, Chargers, Cardinals and Washington on the second night. He faced question after question about that arrest and a handful of other off-field incidents. And then there were the head-scratchers—one team asked Mayfield what sort of beer he drank (his answer: Michelob Ultra or Dos Equis).
Things are finally getting interesting at the combine. Forget about all the dumb questions about who is gay or if your mother is prostitute. Nobody cares about that. I want to know all about the beer.
I have to be honest here. I’m not a huge fan of his answers. Michelob Ultra and Dos Equis are the wrong answers! You know the correct answers? Miller Lite and Coors Banquet are the only two beers I want my starting quarterback sucking down. Everything else is for losers. You drink Michelob Ultra? Pal, do I have a message for you.
You think Brett Favre and Peyton Manning out there chugging Mexican beers? Absolutely not. Manning is a Budweiser guy through and through, and that’s something I can get behind. It might not be Miller Lite but at least it’s American-made.
I was big on Mayfield as of this morning until I read his answer. I thought he was a lock to be first rounder. Now, I’m not so sure I can give a draft grade higher than a third round grade to anybody who didn’t answer with Miller Lite.
