There have been the collaborations, the beefs and – of course – the infamous Anaconda video.
And it appears that the pair are still going strong after all these years – in a friendly way, naturally.
But that hasnt stopped Nicki – who announced her comeback yesterday with two fiery new singles – comparing her relationship with Drizzy to that of an old married couple.
Speaking to Beats 1s Zane Lowe, Nicki revealed that she regularly finds that Drake is always mad at me over something.
He always finds a reason to not be my friend anymore. Were like an old married couple! she said.
Im like: “No, you know I love you! I love you! I love you! You know, then why did you say you hate me?” Like, its so stupid!
Nickis appreciation for Drake was laid bare in the interview with the DJ as she revealed that the Toronto rapper has given her some of the best advice of my career.
Hes very smart and you cant take that away from him. Even when there were things happening, even when I couldnt speak to him, I think he felt the love that I will always have for him.
That comment was a reference to Nickis former relationship with Meek Mill, who beefed with Drake for a number of years.
It was one of the hardest parts of my career to date, ever, Nicki told Lowe about the feud between her ex-boyfriend and Drake. At the time, I did love both of them and I couldnt erase the love that I had for my team.
But I also couldnt speak out. I couldnt really say much and I felt so imprisoned in that moment.
When we later spoke about it, Drake said: “I wasnt worried about anything in the entire situation other than: what if Nicki takes a shot? Then what? What if Nicki spits bars at me, then what?”
He said that throughout the whole beef that that was the only thing he was worried about, because that wouldve been so hurtful and painful for both of us. And so it was difficult to stay out of it.
Nicki said that she attempted to end the beef between the pair but was unsuccessful in her efforts.
I was behind the scenes, of course, wishing it never happened, even prior to it happening, she recalled.
I tried to stop it from happening. I said: “Dont do that.”
I think as artists, we all look back on things that we shouldnt have done. And that was one of those things that he knows he shouldnt have done, and I told him before he did it. But he did it, and it is what it is.
One thing I do know is that both Meek and Drake have moved on from that – from all of the anger and stuff, weve all moved on.
Thank goodness for that.
