Zayn Malik has let it slip that his new single Let Me is about his ex girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
According to the star, he wrote the song several months back when he was in love.
Talking to Ryan Seacrest during an interview on KISS FM, the 25-year-old admitted that he poured his heart and soul into the track, and confessed that his romance with the model is something that should be remembered forever.
He said: I was aspiring to be in love with someone for the rest of my life and the rest of theirs, as we all do.
Things change and we move forward in life. Times change, but thats what I was thinking when I wrote it.
The former One Direction member spoke of how the ups and downs in his life helped him when it came to writing lyrics.
He continued: We go through experiences so we have memories and stories and things to write down and contemplate and think about.
You get to really put your experience into something, something that should be remembered forever.
The pair announced their split last month after dating for two years.
At the time of their break up, the singer tweeted his fans, revealing that he still cared a lot for Gigi.
In a heartfelt message, he wrote: Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend.
