Henry Lau has decided to leave SM Entertainment after 10 years.
He is a member of Super Junior M, a subunit of K-pop boy band Super Junior, in which he debuted in 2008.
As of April 29th, 2018, our exclusive contract with Henry has ended. We have decided not to renew his contract, said Label SJ, which manages Super Junior, according to Allkpop.
He started his solo career in 2013 and appeared in various variety TV shows including I Live Alone.
In 2016, Henry posted a complaint against SM Entertainment.
Difficult. Getting tired. I cant do it alone anymore. Been a mistake since 9 years ago. Its gotten so big..cannot support anymore. What do I do from here on? he wrote on his Instagram account, Allkpop reported.
He also commented: I…only have my fans left. If you see this message, please speak for me. My agency doesnt listen to me.
Henry will reportedly establish his own agency to continue his career in South Korea.
Netizens, meanwhile, weighed in on Henrys departure from SM Entertainment.
Hes better off leaving… he didnt have any future staying in SuJu, one wrote, according to Netizen Buzz.
Another said, Henry has amazing composing skills, no need for him to play to the whims of others while one wrote judging by how hes no longer on I Live Alone, Lee Soo Man seems pissed over this decision.
No matter how I think of it, this is the best decision 100 times over, another netizen commented.
