Sophie Webster is on a mission after young Jack is taken ill in Coronation Street with sepsis – but as she lashes out at Rana Nazir and the medical centre as a whole, is she just trying to distract from her own feelings of guilt?
Jack grazes his knee while playing football with Sophie and when Kevin then leaves him under her care, she sends him to school even though he is saying he is unwell. Jack is soon sent home and when Faye and Seb find him slumped on the ground and clearly ill, they carry him out of the house and Ali Neeson insists they take him to the medical centre.
Sophie is relieved to be told that he is suffering a viral infection but when Ali later comes round to check on him, he spots discolouration on his fingers and sees the signs of sepsis. Ali calls an ambulance and Kevin is terrified to be told that the next hours a crucial for Jacks recovery.
As Kevin is helpless by Jacks bedside and more bad news comes, Sophie blames herself but soon wages war on the medical centre as she slaps Rana across the face when she accuses the staff of missing the symptoms of sepsis.
Later, Sophie heads to see Adam Barlow about suing the medical centre for negligence – but will she go through with it? And what will Jacks prognosis be?
