The Strokes are NOT playing a secret show in London - as venue blame rumours on 'joker'
The Strokes secret gig in London has been revealed to be a complete bust, as hundreds of fans queued for tickets

The Strokes were rumoured to be playing a secret show in London today.

A tweet form Camden venue Dingwalls yesterday advertised a show for a band called Venison – a name the American indie rock outfit have performed under before – in the traditional and now iconic logo style of the band.

Venison return for a very special one off London show, this is first come first served for tickets. Tickets will be available Saturday 7th July at Dingwalls between the hours of midday and 2pm. Max purchase of 8 tickets per person, #newyorkcitycops #venison #lastnight #secret.

Naturally this sent people into a frenzy of excitement, as The Strokes havent played a London show since 2015, and they rushed out this morning queue for a chance to get a ticket.

Around 500 people are believed to have rushed to Camden to try and bag a ticket, with some turning up as early as 6am.

However, at around 10am the venue announced that the band were not in fact playing, and it was just some joker who put the news out – despite the announcement being made on the venues official twitter the previous day.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk a source revealed that the gig rumour had been sparked by the venues old management, who were let go from their positions a few weeks ago, explaining:

A couple of weeks ago the whole of the management team for Dingwalls was fired. They forgot to take them off the social feeds though, so like the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.

The Strokes are NOT playing Dingwalls tonight and this is just some joker who has put this out!!!
Sorry for any inconvenience but this was nothing to do with us!

Basically they just dug up the poster from the 2010 gig and posted it again.

Its a shit show. There were 500 people who queued up. Some people were queuing from 6am.

This could be just about the worst practical joke ever played given that its not just affecting the venue but also loyal fans.

Really funny… not.
