Coronation Street has been firing huge storylines at us left, right and centre and summer is no different. With the Metcalfes set to take centre stage in a massive plot not to mention the long awaited and highly intense exit of Eva Price, there is some big action to stay in for.
Which is no bad thing, considering we are all being incinerated by the summer sun the moment we step out of the door! So if you fancy escaping the heatwave and just losing yourself in the land of Weatherfield, then this is what you have to look forward to!
An emotional exit
We have gone on and on about the exit of Eva for some time – lets be fair, we have known about it for a good few months. But now that its just around the corner, were not quite sure we are prepared to lose her. Still, on the bright side, there are still some big twists to play out.
Will she go away with baby Susie? Will she build bridges with the shattered Connor clan? Could she even get a happily ever after with Adam Barlow? Whatever happens, there are intense and emotional episodes ahead – and Evas goodbye will be unforgettable.
Get your summer tissues ready – both for the sweat and the tears.
Some big returns
Okay, so were losing Eva but Corrie wont snatch someone iconic away from us without giving us some well known faces back in return. First off, we have the glam, catty and wonderful Claudia back in town, complete with a wonderful hairstyle and some killer one liners.
Its the battle of the salons and when Claudia poaches Maria, there is bound to be tension with Audrey and trigger a tug of love. Claudia isnt the only former adversary that Audrey gets in touch with as Lewis Archer is heading back once more – and wooing the stylist as best he can. Will she fall for his charms?
Not enough comebacks? Further down the line, Jim McDonald is out of prison and Nick Tisley is heading home too. So plenty to keep us occupied. Thats four storylines in one, doncha know?
Chaos for the Metcalfes
Sally and Tim are one of our favourite Corrie couples – that combination of bickering and underlying solid foundation of love is what has always made a Street couple iconic. But they are long overdue a serious storyline – and here it comes!
After Sally is conned by scheming Duncan, a chain of events is set in motion that could see her losing everything. And by everything, we mean it! With Kate Oates teasing this would take us up to Christmas, Sally has a busy time ahead but very little to celebrate.
David Platt is slowly but surely getting his life back on track following his horrendous rape ordeal at the hands of Josh Ticker but there is unfinished business and a deplorable criminal still out there awaiting justice. While that may not come from the courts, David will not let this lie.
Spotting him potentially grooming a new victim, David decides enough is enough. But how far is he prepared to go?
Sean is homeless
Coronation Street is well known of late for expertly tackling social and serious issues and the latest storyline to fit this bill is the downfall of Sean Tully into homelessness. As he finds himself sleeping rough, so starts an agonising journey for him over the course of months. Can anyone save him?
He meets an ally on the streets whose situation takes a perilous turn while he also faces violence of his own. And when Billy Mayhew discovers his plight, his pride may well get in the way. A nightmare awaits for Sean and there are heartbreaking scenes ahead.
