When she first came face to face with her son Matty Barton in Emmerdale, Moira Dingle didnt take the bombshell that he was no longer living as Hannah well – and after things went awry, Matty decided that he wanted to be away from the family if Moira couldnt accept him.
But Moira has since realised that she was wrong and when Matty was beaten up, she determined to be there for him. He discharged himself from the hospital after things got awkward between them again but now that he is back in the village, Moira is determined to show that she has his back and supports him.
She is jumpy when she thinks that everyone in the village is gossiping about him and when Matty sees how on edge she is, she explains that it is her job as his mother to protect him and, touched, he agrees to stay on at Butlers for longer leaving Moira thrilled.
As Matty wonders what he is going to do for work, Cain suggests to Moira that she offers him work on the farm and Matty is chuffed when his mum gives him a job and then entrusts him with sourcing a pedigree bull.
But as he sets out to prove himself, he finds a deal and enthusiastically accepts it – but is it as good as it seems or will he lose confidence in his abilities?
