It started with a frantic womans plea for help, but she had no idea where her girlfriend was and no time to act.

A woman called NYPD officers in Queens begging them to help her find her girlfriend who was saying she was going to kill herself. There was just one problem: nobody knew where the woman in distress was.

“She was hysterically crying stating that she was on FaceTime with her girlfriend and that her girlfriend was actually attempting suicide,” NYPD Detective Robert Alartosky said.

Desperate for help to find her girlfriend in distress, the woman walked into the 107th Precinct around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Police knew they needed to act fast, but also needed to know exactly where the woman was.

Ripley's Believe It or Not!

“With the use of her phone we were able to get a pin message, which gave us a general idea that her girlfriend was somewhere in a hotel in Midtown,” Alartosky said.

With no shortage of hotels in Midtown, the NYPD Technical Assistance Response Unit was able to narrow the location down to The Hotel @ Times Square on 46th Street.

“Once we got to her location, we went to the block where TARU had gotten us to and there was only one hotel on that block,” NYPD Detective John Acconi said.

Acconi said the hotels manager told them there was a woman there under her name who had checked in and gave them a security card to get into her room.

Once inside, detectives found the woman in the closest, hanging from a piece of clothing around her neck and immediately jumped into action.

“I felt for a slight pulse,” Acconi said. “Once we determined she was breathing on her own we summoned for EMS and waited for medical assistance.”

The woman is now recovering at an area hospital and detectives say she is grateful for the help to save her life.
