Has Mikey Goldsworthy given away that Dua Lipa has been chosen for the next Bond theme?
There has been a huge amount of speculation over whod be on the next Bond theme, with the likes of Paloma Faith in the running, but Years & Years Mikey Goldsworthys little slip of the tongue might have just clued the world in to the fact that the movies producers have picked an artist to record the theme – Dua Lipa.
Speaking on Radio 5 Live, Mikey said: Because we had Judy Dench who was M, and Ben Whishaw who was Q, we thought it would be us.
I thought theyd ask us to do the theme tune but I think Dua Lipa is doing it.
And just like that, the bombshell was dropped.
His bandmate Emre Turkmen tried to glossed over it, but the presenter was quick to pick up on that little nugget of information.
Am I not supposed to say that? Mikey queried.
Do you have intel we dont? Olly asked.
I dunno. I feel bad now, Mikey admitted. Ive ruined everything.
Then he added: Well hopefully and then well do it.
To add credence to his slip up, he then regaled the presenter with the time actor Ben Whishaw told him truthfully who was doing the previous theme.
Ben Winshaw lived new me and he said it was Radiohead doing the theme, he said, before laughing: And then they rejected it. And I looked like a fool!
But, despite the rejection, he hadnt been wrong.
I was right though, kind of, he said.
Dua has previously responded to rumours she was up for doing the theme, saying she didnt want to speculate because she didnt want to jinx it.
In an interview with Billboard, she said: I dont know. I would love to do it, but Im not recording it…so far…
I dont want to jinx it. I would love to do it.
