Jason Momoa, Marvel villain?
It could well have happened, according to the Aquaman star.
The actor, who has now pledged his allegiance to the DC Extended Universe, revealed in a new interview that he once auditioned for a part in Guardians of the Galaxy following one of the best meetings Ive ever had, with the Russo brothers.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Momoa said that he met the Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War directors and was initially put forward for a role as a villain in one of their films – but, unfortunately [it] didnt work out.
It was going to be a villain, I think, Momoa said. People always want to hire me to play a villain, you know?
I did an audition for Guardians of the Galaxy, which was super cool, he continued.
I got to audition with [Chris Pratt, who plays the lead in Guardians], whos just a legend and a gentleman. That didnt work out.
While he didnt specify which Guardians role it was that he auditioned for, it follows up on his 2014 admission that he turned down the opportunity to play Drax the Destroyer – with the role later going to Dave Bautista.
It didnt really fit in my time because Ive done so many things where I dont say much and Im colored up and I have my shirt off again, the actor said at the time.
Marvels loss is DCs gain, though – Momoas transformation into Aquaman has sent fans pretty barmy recently.
