Emmerdale is lining up a blockbuster ending for Lachlan Whites dramatic story – and the saga will reach its explosive climax this autumn, which is traditionally when ITV airs its super soap week bonanza.
In the past, massive Emmerdale weeks have included floods, motorway pile ups, barn explosions and shootings and so its safe to say that a plot centering around dangerous Lachlan who has already killed four victims (so far) is going to be huge. And with everything that he has done, it seems unlikely that he will be able to stick around in the village once the truth comes out.
At the moment, he is holding his terrified aunt Rebecca hostage in a woodland shack and is prepared to do anything it takes to keep his murdering spree under wraps. But actor Thomas Atkinson, who plays him, has revealed that this wont last forever and has teased an unmissable ending packed with twists.
Lachlan thought he could outwit people, but things start to unravel, he told TV Times. People, including Belle, start to notice that he is behaving oddly. Lachlan doesnt think he could hurt Belle, but who knows what he is capable of when put under pressure? He will do whatever he has to do to hide his crimes.
The best possible outcome for him would be that he gets away with the killings and lives happily ever after with Belle – but that is unlikely! In the autumn, the story moves towards a shocking climax, and therell be some surprises along the way.
Emmerdale are keeping specific details of how the big story ends under wraps for now and whether Lachlan claims any more victims remains to be seen but with the character unlikely to bow out quietly, danger is far from over in the Dales.
This time last year, the previous serial killer Emma Barton took her own son Finn with her to the grave and almost killed Moira Dingle too so anything could happen.
The likes of Belle, Rebecca, Robert, Lydia, Liv and others would be wise to keep a low profile this autumn…
