Sally Metcalfe may be heading for a hell of an ordeal in which she is facing prison but some good may come out of it in Coronation Street – as her daughter Sophie Webster falls for her lawyer friend Paula! However, Sally may not agree on this being a positive!
As Sally is arrested after being conned by fraudster Duncan, she begins to fear that she is heading behind bars – and Sally Dynevor, who plays her, confirmed that the show is indeed taking Sally all the way through the criminal process so we need to get those Free The Weatherfield One t-shirts ready!
However, as Paula arrives to help Sally and strikes up a spark with Sophie, romance follows and Sally is not happy!
The actress told Metro.co.uk: Paula was in Sallys class, a very popular girl, and then I think Sally picked on her a bit as she was the kind of real pretty girl. And then she comes back in her life. At first they get on really well. Theres loads of scenes of them getting drunk and laughing and running down the street. Like old times. The three of them, Gina and Sally and Paula get on really, really well and then of course it all goes to pot when she does what she does!
Of course, Sally will soon have a lot more to worry about when she is placed under arrest – while dressed as a clown, no less!
Sally cringed: Shes all happy and everythings great and shes helping the kids with hook a duck and everythings going well, and then all of a sudden a policeman walks in and then he arrests her. Shes really, really shocked, she doesnt understand whats going on.
She thinks that its obvious that she knew nothing about it, but of course hes set all these things in motion, hasnt he? He has framed her.
As the story progresses, even Tim doesnt believe poor Sally which the star says hurts her the most. But if Sally does end up going to jail, could Gail Rodwell, who has been there before after being accused of killing Joe McIntyre, offer any advice?
Sally pondered: Thats a really good question because I really hope so, Id love some more stuff with Gail and there was a scene that Helen and I had ages ago with some drugs and I say well youve got to give them back to the police because Im middle class, I cant go to jail, I wouldnt get a decent roll of toilet paper!
I really want to play that scene again because it was a really lovely moment where she was like “oh yeah, you couldnt go to jail”. I would love some more scenes with Gail, shed be able to tell her a few things, wouldnt she!?
