Negotiations in getting James Gunn reinstated as director of Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 have reportedly failed.
The 52-year-old was removed from the movie by Disney after offensive tweets previously posted by the director emerged, which prompted the cast to fight for him to be reinstated.
However, despite their petition and open letter calling him to be brought back, talks between Disney and Gunn resulted in the decision a new director would be found.
According to Variety.com, Gunn had a meeting with Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn recently to discuss the prospect of having his job back but after a lot of negotiation, its been decided that the studio would stick with their decision.
Horn previously released a statement in which he detailed the reasons for sacking the director, saying: The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studios values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.
Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista, lashed out at the decision, saying in a statement: We fully support James Gunn. We were all shocked by his abrupt firing last week and have intentionally waited these ten days to respond in order to think, pray, listen, and discuss.
In that time, weve been encouraged by the outpouring of support from fans and members of the media who wish to see James reinstated as director of Volume 3 as well as discouraged by those so easily duped into believing the many outlandish conspiracy theories surrounding him.
Chris Pratt recently spoke of the turmoil caused by losing the director from the project.
Speaking to the Associated Press, the 39-year-old said: Its not an easy time. We all love James and hes a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Its a complicated situation for everybody. And you know, we just want to move forward and do whats right and be the best people we can be.
