Gemma Winter could be left facing tragedy in Coronation Street as she is forced to make a decision over Henry Newtons future – while he faces death at the hands of the thugs hired by Cressidas family who are chasing him for cash.
Gemma is horrified by Henrys actions after he breaks his arm in the cellar of the Rovers deliberately in a bid to sue Jenny and Johnny Connor. With the pub not fully insured yet, it could crash Jenny and Johnnys venture before they have even got going and when Gemma hears that Rita Tanner caught Henry searching her flat, she is torn over whether to stay loyal to him.
Forced to admit to her that his injury is fake, Henry tells Gemma that he is being hounded for £20k to pay Cressidas parents back for the wedding that he ditched. He implores Gemma to keep quiet and help him with his plan so that he can pay off the debt and then they can enjoy their life together.
But seeing how much this is affecting Jenny and also with it in the back of her mind that Henry may have planned to steal from Rita, Gemma is unsure and tells him that she refuses to con their friends.
Henry begs her to change her mind and reminds her that his life is in danger, with the thugs having already threatened extreme violence if he doesnt cough up. Gemma has a final decision to make – but which way will her head and her heart take her?
And with George Banks having departed his role as Henry, is he about to meet his maker, leaving Gemma heartbroken and alone?
