Charity Dingle has made a huge decision in Emmerdale not to go through with testifying at DI Bails imminent rape trial – the very outcome that the manipulative and corrupt police detective wanted when he targeted Ryan Stocks and then told Charity that if even her son is doubting her, she could never convince a jury.
Sleazy Bails spoke one on one with Ryan and insisted that Charitys version of events isnt true – he argued that she consented and seemed much older than her 14 years of age. And when Bails then used the angle of Charity not yet introducing her long lost son to the rest of the family to his advantage, Ryan appeared to have been stirred by his words.
Shaken by the fact that Bails would stoop so low as to drag Ryan through this too, Charity later told Vanessa Woodfield that she wasnt going to go ahead with the trial – meaning there is a huge chance that it could be thrown out, meaning Bails would escape justice.
But as Vanessa tries to convince her that she has come all of this way and needs to see it through to ensure that Bails pays the price, can Ryan be the one to tell his mum that he will be there for her if she goes to court?
With Charity worrying that Ryan will believe Bails lies, will he assure her that he has seen through the deceit? Or has Bails got far enough under Ryans skin to de-rail the charges against him so that he gets away with his deplorable crimes?
Also tonight, Charity faces another decision over whether she will finally tell the other Dingles who Ryan is. If she shows this commitment to having her son as part of her life forever, will it help Ryan get things right in his head about who to trust?
Emmerdale airs two episodes on Thursday 30th August at 7pm and 8pm on ITV as the drama continues.
