Peteris shot in COronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street is setting up some terror for Peter Barlow and Carla Connor tonight as a shooting rings out across the cobbles and Peter falls to the ground, having been hit in the chest. As Carla rushes to Peters side, she fears that she could be about to lose him for good.

The dramatic stand off outside Underworld comes after Peter vows to protect his son Simon, who continues to be targeted by Tyler and his yob friends. But when Peter is called away, he leaves the responsibility of looking after Simon in Carlas hands.

A work issue with Sinead Tinker means that Carla is distracted, which then allows Tyler to make his move and start banging on the doors of the factory to try and get to Simon. Peter returns to the scene and Tyler makes a getaway in his car – but not before pointing a gun through the window at Peter.

Peter freezes to the spot and a shot rings out, causing him to collapse to the ground. As a panicked Carla rushes over, how bad are things for Peter?

Later, the situation and Carlas reaction lead Michelle to question whether she still has feelings for Peter while Leanne wastes no time in confronting the factory boss over her negligence.
