Travis Scott paid an emotional tribute to his friend and peer, Mac Miller, following the rappers death earlier this month.

Mac, real name Malcolm McCormick, died on 7 September at the age of 26 and was found at his Los Angeles home.

Performing at the Life Is Beautiful festival on Sunday night, Travis, also 26, mentioned Mac during an impromptu freestyle.

Holding his hand to his chest, Travis rapped: Thats my fuckin boy. From that 412, yeah / from that 41210, yeah / Its the superstar boy, superstar boy, Mac Miller you know why we love you fucking boy. We miss you Mac.

As the audience cheered, Travis then launched into a performance of his critically-acclaimed Sza collaboration Love Galore.

In the days before his death, Mac and Travis had gone head to head on the US Billboard 200 chart with their respective albums Swimming and Astroworld, which were released on the same day in August.

Travis came out on top, fending off competition from the likes of Nicki Minaj to claim the number one spot. However Swimming, Macs fifth studio album, still fared well and peaked at number three on the album chart after selling around 30,000 copies.

The cause of Macs death is yet to be revealed as results from toxicology reports are pending. The rapper had detailed his battle with addiction over the years and his ex-girlfriend, Ariana Grande, suggested it was the reason for their split in May.

Travis has performed at a string of festivals this summer, including Reading & Leeds, in support of his third album. Astroworld features guest appearances from the likes of Frank Ocean, Drake, The Weeknd and James Blake.
