Emmerdale icon Claire King is back where she belongs – as the monstrously but gloriously evil superbitch Kim Tate. After an absence of nearly two decades, soaps most notorious villain will step back into the grounds of Home Farm for an explosive stint that will shatter the lives of guests at the masquerade ball.
With carnage and devastation ahead (what else would you expect?), Kim is certainly going to cause a stir. And Claire has teased the drama ahead.
Speaking on ITVs Lorraine, she said: A return has been mentioned over the years – but the time is right now that the Tate name is back. Now here I am in my old stomping ground!
She is as always, a joy to play! She is going to come back and wreak havoc. Even though shes just back for a week, she does quite a lot, actually! Shes bigger and badder than she was before – and obviously a bit older. Theyre not going to know whats hit them.
When pressed on whether the return could be long term or she could come back again, she wasnt ruling it out but said: Well, Im committed to pantomime at Christmas in Stockport doing Sleeping Beauty and Ive got a film coming out – things are busy! So Im sorry about that! But yeah…
Hinting at more detail on her week of drama, she grinned: She arrives in a DB9 this time which is rather nice and I got to drive it – we didnt have the helicopter but we had an Aston Martin.
The first few days I was working with Andy Scarborough who is just brilliant – we were on different sets so at first, it felt like a new job until I arrived at Home Farm and the old boots came on. She was back and it felt great! There are loads of familiar faces too and the same work ethic so it feels like home. Im a Yorkshire lass – like Jodie Whittaker, Yorkshire lasses are doing well this week!
