The gap between each of the Avengers movies has typically been about three years, leaving Marvel fans very used to waiting.
It wont be such a long wait this time around, but you dont need to get ready for The Avengers 4 quite yet.
As with any hero film, there are tons of fan theories and gossip around what might happen next. Heres what we know so far.
When is Avengers 4 released?
Avengers 4 is slated to hit cinema screens on 26 April 2019 in the UK and 3 May 2019 in the US.
What will it be called?
So far it is has a working title of the Untitled Avengers Movie or Avengers 4 with Marvel yet to go on record with the Avengers: Infinity War spin-offs name.
However, in June this year it was rumoured that it may be called Avengers: End Game after the films cinematograher Trent Opaloch appeared to let the cat out of the bag.
Fans on Reddit have speculated that it may not be this, however, as The Russo Brothers said in an interview that the title for 4 had not been said in the previous film (and Doctor Strange says the words end game in it).
Theories are abounding as to what i could be, with Eternity War a popular favourite online.
Infinity War has been chopped in two, so its just the other half of that, right?
When it was first revealed that the Thanos/Infinity Gauntlet story would span two films this was the first reaction. People bemoaning that it was a Peter Jackson The Hobbit style cop-out.
And while the films were shot back-to-back the Russo brothers (co-directors Anthony and Joe) have been at pains to explain that it is a continuation of the story, as opposed to just the other half.
It was important for us, because we wanted, the experience we wanted to have at the end of this story was the sense of emotional completion. In terms of what the narrative was in the film, Anthony Russo told ComicBook.com.
And hopefully theyll have that similar feeling…Its serialised story-telling. The mission was to not make one long movie and get out the scissors and cut it in half. Because thats never been the most fulfilling cinematic expression. So for us, the commitment was to try and put a beginning, middle, and end to this, and a beginning, middle, and end to that.
Where does the story start in relation to the events in Infinity War?
Theres obviously an overall arc involving the Avengers and Thanos, but when and where the film picks up the action after Infinity War is anyones guess.
Speaking to us earlier this month in London Joe Russo teased where we can expect the story to go, and yes that means more heartbreak for Marvel fans.
This is it, he explained. Thanos is an unstoppable villain hes virtually invincible, hes highly intelligent – genius level intelligent – hes like the Genghis Khan of the universe, and to stop him its going to cost them a lot. Theyre going to have to see if theyre willing to pay that price, and thats what these movies are really about.
Talking about a comment the brothers made about fans needing to prepare for a scare in the next instalment, he explained: What we meant by that is to be prepared. What we want is for the audience to be prepared, as theres a lot of surprises – theres going to be a lot of humour and a lot of heartbreak.
Who will be in the cast?
While the cast details are still to be confirmed, according to the movies IMDB page, the following will all be starring in the sure-to-be epic movie:
