As the heat rises between old sweethearts Sylver McQueen and Mercedes in Hollyoaks, Jack Osborne watches with a careful eye to ensure theyre nothing more than friends.
Jack comes clean to Mercedes fiance Russ Owen about what he thought he saw pass between Mercedes and Sylver. After hearing that they almost kissed, Russ, who is already paranoid and still feeling guilty that he believed Mercedes to be a killer, makes no hesitation in paying Jack to keep tabs on his future wife and Sylver.
It doesnt take long for Jack to make a fool of himself, donning a disguise to try and glean information from Sylvers workshop, but when hes caught, he lies and steals to cover his tracks, slipping Sylvers phone out from under his nose to try and find evidence that might substantiate his claims about the ex-lovers cheating.
Being a spy isnt something that comes naturally to Jack, and hes again caught, this time by Sylvers mother Breda, with the stolen phone. An embarrassed Jack agrees to stop being such a busybody and Breda says shell talk to her son- but what is it shell say?
After a disastrous attempt at espionage, its clear that Jack shouldnt give up the day job. When he goes back to report his findings to Russ, its unlikely hell have a lot to say. But then theres always the chance Jack will just stir the pot!
Needless to say, Mercedes would be less than impressed if she knew her distrustful fiance was spying on her- but does she really have nothing to hide?
