Joy at a reunion is set to turn to tragedy in EastEnders as beloved former GP Dr Legg has confided in his close friend Dot Branning that he is going to die. Dot had caught up with the pensioner, who featured in EastEnders very first episode, when she thought that she was on her way out.
Dr Legg gave her a clean bill of health and advised her to listen to the other doctors in future and to celebrate, they had a cherry each and reminisced about their good times on Albert Square. As they both admitted that they missed each other, Dot suggested that Dr Legg came back to his old haunt to see some familiar faces and places.
He was only too glad too and he arrived at the Queen Vic, looking around wistfully and catching up with the likes of Sonia and Martin Fowler. As he settled down with Dot and soaked in the atmosphere of the community he had served for decades, Dr Legg soon turned serious.
As he turned to Dot and told her that he was dying, Dot was left taken aback by the terrible news. And next week, when Dr Legg refuses to continue any treatment, she is appalled and breaks contact with him.
Will she miss out on her chance to say goodbye to one of her most loved friends? And will Dr Leggs mortality hit Dot hard as she is forced to see off another person who has been a constant in her life?
