Cain Dingle is back and having to face the music after walking out on wife Moira as he was consumed by guilt over the death of Joe Tate. He arrived back in Emmerdale to support his broken sister Chas on the day of Graces funeral but now he has to try and adjust and put Joes death behind him. Easier said than done.
Cain believes that he killed his daughter Debbies fiance after he punched him to the ground and caused him to strike his head on a rock. Graham Foster then took control of the situation and took Joe to the viaduct.
When Joes fingers moved, Graham was forced to finish Joe off before disposing of the body but he has kept the truth about how things ended from Cain, who is now trying to deal with the enormity of being a killer.
After Graham worried about Cains fragility when the police came calling, he instructed him to take some time away and Cain left a note for bewildered Moira before disappearing. Moira had already been worried after Cain snapped and overturned the kitchen table in a temper.
Now that he is back, Moira wants answers on where he went and why but Cain is evasive. But at the start of next week, Moira finally cracks the truth and Cain admits that he killed Joe.
Moira is understandably shocked but then pulls herself together and vows to help Cain through this as she can see how much it is affecting him. And she will then confront Graham Foster only to learn that Joe left a voicemail pledging his love for Debbie and his intention to be a family with her just before he died.
Will this added information make Cain feel worse – or will Moira succeed in keeping it from him?
Moira knows what its like to harbour the horrible secret of taking a life – can she help Cain get through this?
Emmerdale continues on Friday 26th October at 7pm on ITV.
