He did nothing but destroy lives through 2018 but now that Lachlan White is behind bars, Emmerdales Belle Dingle had hoped that she could rebuild her life. However, the haunting specter of the serial killer is never far away and Metro.co.uk can confirm that viewers will see the character again as Thomas Atkinson reprises the role.
The character is currently languishing in prison awaiting trial. He had previously tried to implicate Belle in his crimes and also toyed with the life of missing Rebecca, who eventually escpaed the clutches of the nurse who was holding her.
With all aces up his sleeve apparently lost to him, fans assumed that he would disappear and meet his fate off screen, having pleaded guilty to the crimes he is facing. But as new scenes will air featuring the villain, will it be as simple as that? And could Belle be in for some more heartache?
Our soap source told Metro.co.uk: Taking a break away from the village was just what Belle needed to get her head together after everything she went through with Lachlan. But as she tries to get back on track, the ever conniving Lachlan hasnt forgotten about her or the village.
There are some more brief scenes coming up involving Lachlan but whether he is repentant over his crimes and wants to make amends or whether he has revenge on his mind once again remains to be seen.
Either way, these are old wounds that Belle really didnt need to have opened up. Every time she thinks she can forget about Lachlan, things have a habit of coming back to haunt her.
Metro.co.uk understands that Thomas return to the role wont be permanent and that the brief scenes will air over coming weeks but when approached, Emmerdale were remaining tight lipped over storyline details so fans will just have to wait and see!
