Zooey Deschanel is on our screens this evening as she stars alongside Will Ferrell in the hit Christmas film Elf.
She plays Jovie who works with Buddy at Gimbels department store and quickly forms a connection with him.
The 38 year-old has gone on to appear in numerous movies following the success of Elf as well as star in her own sitcom.
Her net worth is currently estimated to be around $25 million after earning a good salary for her TV series New Girl, as well as making various film appearances and regularly releasing new music albums.
Zooeys first film role came in the 1999 film Mumford where she played the role of Ness Watkins, which was followed by appearances in Almost Famous and The Good Girl.
One of her first big movie roles was in 2003 in Elf when she played store worker Jovie who develops into the love interest of the main character – Buddy.
She later appeared in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Good Life and Yes Man.
One of her other most notable movie roles was alongside Jospeh Gordon-Levitt in the rom-com 500 Days of Summer.
In 2011 Zooey took on the role of Jessica Day in a sitcom called New Girl where she starred alongside Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone.
She was in the show for seven season until it came to an end in 2018, in which time she had received three Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy Award nomination for her performance.
The actress has also made guest appearances in various other TV shows including The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Zooey is also part of a musical duo called She & Him alongside M. Ward, which has released six albums.
The group was formed in 2006 and their albums have reached number one in the US Alt, Folk, Indie and Rock charts.
Their biggest hit to date has been the single In The Sun which reached number 4 in the US Singles Sales chart.
