David Platt and Shona Ramsay might be on to a good thing right now, but its not set to last for them in Coronation Street with a Clayton Hibbs return on the cards.
Davids happiness could be in jeopardy by the reappearance of his wifes killer – he has worked hard to put Shonas link to Clayton behind them, deciding to let his heart rule his head, and the pair grew even closer through his rape ordeal. It did look like wedding bells could be on the cards, but is Clayton set to ruin everything?
Speaking to metro.co.uk, show producer Iain MacLeod has revealed he will return and could be embroiling mum Shona in a plot that might put her own freedom at risk. Could it mean the end of Shona and David?
Weve got a story where Clayton will rear his ugly, criminal head, Iain explained. He throws a massive spanner in the works for David and he tries to embroil Shona in a plot to smuggle drugs into prison. It becomes a story about Shona and her son and throws into question David and Shonas relationship.

Clayton has been locked up and it provides the biggest challenge to David and Shonas relationship since the Josh story.
Iain added that It will provide the vehicle for writers to explore how David deals with Shonas relationship with Kylies killer, meaning there could be some gritty storylines ahead for these two.
We have explored some of this before but not in as much detail, Iain said. The fact that hes in love with the mother of the boy who killed the love of his life, is so huge and its ripe area for us to explore. Itll ultimately become quite gritty, that will kick off relatively early in the year and play right the way through.
With storylines featuring Audrey Roberts missing money and Lewis Archers death ahead, 2019 looks like it wont get off to a good start for David and seemingly wont be getting any better.
