EastEnders boss Kate Oates has lifted the lid on her first storylines for the soap amid announcements that the Ahmed and Taylor families are being expanded and Jay Mitchells ex Lola Pearce is returning.
As Kate takes over the reigns from outgoing boss John Yorke, she is already hard at work on the new era for Walford and was somewhat cryptic over whats to come.
She told Metro.co.uk: Im really excited to be here. Its dreamy, Im having a really nice time. I wont say too much but Im really excited about next year. Im excited to work with Jon Sen, I think hes going to be a fantastic executive producer for the show.
Weve got a few little things that I can tease. Its going to be a big year for the Slaters. Jeans going to have a bit of new challenge coming her way, but she may find that its the best thing that ever happened to her, so theres some fun stuff to challenge her there along with Lacey Turner as Stacey.
Were also bringing Mitch back. The little secret that hes bringing with him, the little surprise, will be a bomb to go off in the Taylor family. Were stretching that family as ever, theyre going to be as rowdy and larger-than-life as you have come to love them.
Also were going to be playing more of that amazing love triangle that Keanu has fallen into. Its going to get really messy, Sharon does not know what shes unleashed but maybe she wont be the one who ends up with his heart, so well see how that ends up.
Kate has also previously hinted at a major issue led storyline next year as well as pinning her hopes on acquiring three major returning faces.
Her episodes are expected to air around February and March time.
