Billy takes control for David and targets Josh in Coronation Street

Last year wasnt exactly Billy Mayhews finest – he started 2018 in hospital and endured a serious drug addiction – but 2019 is shaping up to look a little more positive for the Coronation Street vicar as he gets a new love interest. And Paul is a familiar face!

Fans will recall him from the time he shared a cell with David Platt, who had been jailed for beating up Gary Windass. When Paul turns up having been released from prison, he tells a surprised David that he is looking for some work and wants to get his life back on track.

Johnny Connor is his first port of call but he is forced to tell him that the Rovers is fully staffed – however, Billy reaches out to him and tells him that he may be able to talk Carla into hiring him at Underworld as part of the government rehabilitation scheme for offenders.

As Carla eventually approves and decides to give Paul a chance, Paul is very grateful and before long, he is looking at Billy in a new light. And later, Paul turns things up a notch, openly flirting with Billy and leaving him wondering if there is hope for romance.

However, things are a little more complicated than that. Paul doesnt just know David but it transpires that he is also the brother of Gemma Winter. Talk about a small world.
