Thousands of peoples worst travelling nightmares came true last month when a drone brought chaos to Gatwick Airport.

A drone that the police claimed may not have existed, before admitting that some sightings of the rogue drone were actually police drones.

Whatever actually happened, hundreds of thousands of passengers were left stranded or severely delayed just before Christmas, as Gatwicks runway was closed down for two days.

Well, drones are now about to get even scarier, because the flying robots now have their own horror film.

The Drone

The drone is sentient with the consciousness of a serial killer, obviously (Picture: YouTube)

It was only a matter of time.

The trailer for The Drone has dropped, and the concept is totally ludicrous, but we are 100% going to go see it.

We reckon the IMDB blurb sums it up to perfection: A newlywed couple is terrorised by a consumer drone that has become sentient with the consciousness of a deranged serial killer.

The trailer for The Drone asks what happens when technology gets a mind of its own, and sees couple Rachel (Alex Essoe) and Chris (John Brotherton) battling with the rogue drone as it takes over their cars, spies on them while theyre in the shower and hacking security systems.

The Drone is directed by Jordan Rubin, the man behind Zombeavers – a horror about college students being attacked by a swarm of zombie-fied beavers – so you know its going to be amazingly ridiculous.

The Drone premieres at Slamdance in Utah at the end of the month – and now, we wait for the sequel, The Drone 2: Gatwick Strikes Back…
