Youd think things would be awkward between Marvel boss Kevin Feige and former Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn after the latter got fired last summer.
But as it turns out, its all friendly as Kevin, 45, insists theres no rivalry between them despite James epic split from Marvel.
See, they can all get along.
After he was let go as Guardians director, James was hired by rival superhero movie studio DC to helm the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel. Surprisingly, Kevin admits hes pretty excited to see how James will work his magic on DCs anticipated follow-up and complimented the directors vision.
Kevin told MTV: I went to see [DCs] Aquaman last night and I really, really enjoyed it.
He added: I dont see a rivalry, I see cool things being made. One thing you know about James Gunn, he makes cool things.
With James no longer attached to the project, the future of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 appeared to be up in the air, but James confirms it will go ahead… at some point.
The studio boss teased: Guardians will happen. When, where, how? For a later time.
Fear not as Marvel has plenty to keep us entertained until then with Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home set to be released this year alone.
James, 52, was axed from Guardian last July after historic tweets joking about rape and paedophilia resurfaced. The filmmaker was later hired to write the script for the second installment of Suicide Squad, which will reportedly get a complete makeover.
DC confirmed: Acclaimed writer/director James Gunn has been attached to write Suicide Squad 2. Gunn is poised to bring a completely fresh take to the franchise after the first film was written and directed by David Ayer.
