Ben Mitchell has returned to EastEnders after a year away, with the character this time played by Max Bowden.
Phil (Steve McFadden)s son made his comeback along with Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) and her daughter Lexi on Monday nights episode of the soap, making Bowden the sixth actor to play the character.
But Bens face isnt the only thing thats different about the character.
Because he also seems to be missing his trademark glasses and his hearing aid, which the younger Mitchell has worn since he was a baby after meningitis left him partially deaf.
He was often seen wearing his hearing aid on the show (most of the time at least) – so whats happened to that, and his specs?
The answer you want is right here.
Whats happened to Bens glasses and hearing aid in EastEnders?
The lack of facewear and hearing aid hasnt gone unnoticed by viewers since Ben returned to the show.
Bens back with Lola and Lexi. With no glasses or hearing aid. Imposter? one person asked, while another remarked: Missing glasses is one thing but he cant suddenly not need a hearing aid surely?
Still, the explanation for the lack of specs is a pretty simple one which Ben himself addressed on Tuesday nights episode.
As Ben said: Feeling happy to see my family, his friend Jay jokingly quipped: Surprised you can see your family without your glasses on.
To which Ben replied: Contacts, you idiot.
So now you know.
As for the hearing aid? Well that wasnt explained but since you can get smaller hearing aids which are less visible, perhaps hes now choosing to wear one of those instead.
Where has Ben Mitchell been since he left EastEnders last time?
