Theres a lot going on with Britney Spears right now, much of it blanketed with distressing rumors about her reported voluntary stay at a mental-health facility. However, there is one bright spot on the horizon for fans: according to Deadline, Sony has reportedly nabbed the film rights to Once Upon a One More Time, an upcoming Broadway musical that will be set to Brits hit songs.

The musical, according to its log line, is a fairy tale-inspired piece that brings together Snow White and Cinderella, among other classic princesses, who are in a book club together. Absorb that for just a moment. The story takes off—wait for it—when a fairy godmother introduces them to The Feminine Mystique, the 1963 feminist classic by Betty Friedan. Inspired by the book, the princesses decide to change their lives, all while presumably singing Britney Spears songs.

“Cinderella is having an existential crisis,” book writer Jon Hartmere told The New York Times in March. “And she has a posse of famous princesses, and her stepmother is the main antagonist, and theres also Prince Charming and a dwarf weve never met—the eighth dwarf—and a narrator who is unhappy his system is being dismantled before his eyes.”

He also noted that “these women have been in this hermetically sealed world, and then they start to get deeper into modern ideas—second and third-wave feminism—and also explore how stories are passed down to us, and where we get our norms from. But its also super-fun and funny.”

Kristin Hanggi will direct the musical, which will first head to Chicago and then land on Broadway in 2020. Per Deadline, the musical will be more Mamma Mia! than Bohemian Rhapsody, adding yet another film to the current trend of musically driven blockbuster hopefuls.
