DJ Official, a Grammy award-winning music producer best known for working with Cardi B, has been shot dead at the age of 26.
The musician, real name Leslie Andre Wakefield Jr, died after a drive-by shooting in a south Los Angeles neighbourhood on Friday.
According to KTLA, DJ Official was sitting in a car with another man when a vehicle pulled up beside them. Gunshots were fired from the vehicle and hit both men.
One victim, reported to be DJ Official, died at the scene while the other victim is said to be in a stable condition.
The producers grandfather reacted to the tragic news and told NBC Los Angeles: All he did was go to work and come home. He didnt belong to [a] gang or nothing like that.
LAPD officer Tony Im did not offer a description of the suspects but said the attack could be gang related.
DJ Official had won a Grammy Award in February after working on Cardi Bs debut album, Invasion of Privacy, which earned the best rap album accolade.
