Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) will tonight vow to stand by Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) in Coronation Street as he faces being driven out of town by vile sex abuser Kel (Joseph Alessi). With Paul having realised that Kel groomed and abused him as a teenager, he lashed out at the man he thought he loved and left him in a coma.
Billy was shocked by Pauls actions but reasoned that he should hand himself into the police as they would understand once the truth about the child abuse came to light. When Kel came round, he told Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) that he didnt intend to press any charges against Paul – evidently worried about the past coming to light.
However, with the family turning on him and Kel issuing a damning threat, Paul feels he has no choice but to leave Weatherfield. As he packs a bag and prepared to flee, he ends up at Billys flat and Billy takes him in his arms and tells him that he wasnt alone.
Looking a broken Paul straight in the eyes, Billy assures him that nothing that has happened to him is his fault and consumed both with agony of what he went through and relief that someone understood him and was showing him genuine kindness, Paul crumbles into tears.
But can Billy reverse his decision to leave the Street?
Billy makes it clear that Paul will eventually have to face up to what had happened and take the next steps – but adds that he would be with him every step of the way. With Billy fighting his corner, will Paul be able to find the strength to speak out against Kel?
Or will Kel manage to manipulate him into silence? It remains to be seen where the story goes from here buRead More – Source
