A Star Is Born: Watch Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper Fall in Love Onstage

Celebrities

By now, youve likely heard a lot about Bradley Cooper and Lady Gagas A Star Is Born remake. You know every detail of Coopers first meeting with Gaga—from the way he wiped makeup from her face to the song that Cooper suggested they sing together at the piano. You know about the pact they made to each other before embarking on this musical remake adventure, which will likely carry them all the way to the Academy Awards. Youve heard, over and over again, how much Cooper and Gaga love each other. But have you felt their love? No.

Which is why, ahead of the films October 5 release date, Gaga has generously shared the first music video from A Star Is Born, set to her and Coopers triumphant track “Shallow.” True, the music video absolutely does not do justice to the soaring performances and emotion felt during the movie. But it does give you a few heretofore not-yet-seen visuals—Gaga schlepping garbage bags; Cooper gingerly sweeping a few strands of hair from Gagas face; Cooper punching the lights out of Sam Elliott; Gaga and Cooper sharing tender face-to-face moments. And it mentally prepares audiences for what they will see when the film is released on October 5, so that they will not emotionally combust from the sheer love shared on screen.

The visuals cut in and out of Cooper and Gagas characters “Shallow” performance, the first onstage appearance they make together in the film. The moment arrives shortly after the duos unlikely meeting, during which Gagas Ally shares with Coopers Jackson a song she has written herself. When Jackson invites Ally to his next concert—spoiler alert!—he surprises her by singing the song in front of an audience of thousands and inviting her onstage. Though she feels totally unprepared, she nerves up, joins Jackson in the spotlight, and belts out the song. It is the moment when Allys star is born—and those cheering fans know it, as do their outstretched camera phones.
