For years, rumours of a potential bout between the two have surfaces, yet each has enjoyed different marquee Wrestlemania moments.

Wrestlemania 34 could be the time however, with recent developments suggesting that a Cena/Undertaker showdown could be taking place in April.

Writing in the latest Wrestling Observer newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggested that John Cena’s Wrestlemania opponent will be a ‘much bigger encounter’ than a proposed WWE Championship match with AJ Styles.

What’s bigger than the world championship? Only a few options emerge, and with the likes of Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin most likely never wrestling again, The Undertaker could be the mysterious mooted opponent.

Many had expected Undertaker to retire from WWE following his Wrestlemania 33 defeat to Roman Reigns, but though Taker finished the show by placing his hat in the middle of an otherwise empty ring, he has never officially retired from wrestling.

In November it was announced that Undertaker will be returning to WWE for Raw’s 25th anniversary on 22nd January, and with John Cena currently a free agent, the biggest Raw of the year could be the perfect moment to begin the feud.

Despite only wrestling once or twice a year for the past half-decade, Undertaker has struggled with injury as he has entered his fifties, but is believed to be in good physical shape at the moment.

Recent pictures have shown the veteran with his hair dyed black, which is usually a sign of a significant return to the ring.

John Cena vs The Undertaker is still an intriguing match to make despite the advanced years of both men, and it will be interesting to see what rivalry can be concocted for the men who have not wrestled each other for nearly 15 years.
