Adam Barlow finally said goodbye to a devastated Eva Price tonight in Coronation Street.
The hotshot lawyer had been prepared to leave behind his entire life and family for Eva. The pair left the cobbles for France, with Adam committed to a fresh start with Eva and baby Susie.
But at Aidans inquest, Evas tearful testimony served to give Adam a much needed wake up call.
The Connors and Leanne and Toyah had resigned themselves to Eva simply submitting written evidence. But Eva and Adam showed up at the last moment.
Johnny testified first and became emotional when he discussed Aidans death. Adam watched as Eva broke down. Then it was her turn to testify.
Eva wept and told the court how shed danced with Aidan the last time shed seen him. She spoke about how she had loved Aidan with all her heart and had believed they had a future together.

During a break in proceedings Leanne checked if Adam was okay. She warned him not to let Eva down. A little later, Eva told Kate that she would do anything to have Aidan back.
As she spoke, Adam realised the painful truth. Eva would never love him like she loved Aidan.
Peter warned Adam not to waste his life wishing for something he could never have.
After the inquest Adam took Eva to one side and explained that he couldnt return to France with her. Eva was devastated.
Adam didnt look much happier; it was only days ago that hed quoted Shakespeare at Eva, in order to sweep her off her feet. He told Eva that she hadnt moved on yet.
There was one small consolation for Eva as Johnny finally apologised for snatching Susie. He told Eva that Aidans death wasnt her fault. Eva told Johnny that he could come and visit her and Susie and that Susie would get to know the Connors. Johnny was overjoyed.
Toyah begged Eva to stay but Eva explained to Toyah that it was best if she left the cobbles for good.
Eva bid an emotional goodbye to Toyah and slipped away for the last time.
Eva and Adams parting seems as though its permanent.
Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva, bowed out of Corrie with these last emotional scenes. But Adams story on the cobbles is far from over, as he gets straight back to work next week.
