Just weeks after Avicii was laid to rest in Stockholm, fellow DJ and producer Jayli spoke out about his death and how much of an impact it had on the industry.

Avicii died from apparent suicide aged just 28, while he was holidaying with friends in Oman.

And now almost two months after his death, female DJ Jayli has opened up about his influence on the scene and how she will never understand why he did what he did.

Talking to Metro.co.uk she said: He started somewhere and he was unknown at some point.

But its just he wasnt made out for this machine that he was in. He really should have kept producing and he should have used other artists or different names to promote the music that he was making.

She added: Thats why he did it because he enjoyed the music. He didnt enjoy touring, he didnt enjoy the machine that it launched him on, and it was literally heartbreaking.

The 25-year-old has been DJing for five years and tried to work out his crazy schedule and what time off he had.

She said: I think he did like 400 gigs in three years or something crazy and I tried to break that down, like 365 days in a year, times by three so that means he was getting like six weeks off a year.

The thing is its hard because I love what I do, and its not work for me. I love performing and he didnt like that side of things.

She continued: But I think its all about balance and all about looking after yourself and maybe like at the end of the day were all going to die at some point so whether youre ahead or behind I dont think it really matters you just have to look after yourself and enjoy it.

Jayli then went on to reassure that it is okay for people to say no if they stop enjoying what they do.

She said: You have the right to say no and I feel thats shown through Avicii. He could have said no a lot sooner than he did.

He just wanted to make people happy, so he continued touring and that affected him in the end.

Jayli is currently part of an all-girl line up for Hedkandi and is proud to be representing female artists in the industry.

She said: Hedkandi started in the early 2000s so its incredible to be part of something so big because that was the first experience I had of house music.

They brought DJs to the beach almost thats how it was. It brought melodic soulful sounds to house music, so to be part of that is so powerful and so wonderful.

She added: And with it being an all-girl line up it makes it incredibly powerful and special to be part of. Especially as 2018 marks 100 years for womens freedom.
