Ed Sheeran can do no wrong as the 27-year-old hitmaker has now utterly smashed the record for the most money made on tour in a single year.

Ed bought in an impressive £342 million in the last 12 months, which works out at just under £1 million a day.

A Day.

He just beat best friend Taylor Swift whose Reputation stadium tour saw her bring in £244 million in the past 12 months; the concert will hit Netflix on 31 December.

Rounding out the top 10 were Beyonce and Jay Z, who earned £201 million after going on tour together for the first time in 2018, Pink, Bruno Mars, and rock bands The Rolling Stones and U2.

Analysis from industry insiders Pollstar reveals that the staggering figures come from simply selling tickets, which makes these artists even more successful as it doesnt take into account music sales, merchandise or sponsorship.

U2 hold the record for the previous highest grossing tour for a calendar year, as in 2017 their Joshua Tree tour earned Bono and co £250 million.

The Irish rock band still hold the record for the highest-grossing ever tour with their 360 tour which took place from 2009 to 2011 earning them a very cool £581 million.

In October it was revealed that Ed paid almost £1million more tax than Amazon in 2017 despite making less than 1/5 of their profits.

Figures released showed that Ed handed over £5.29million while the online retailer paid £4.5 million; compare this to their takehome, which sees the popstar make over £27 million in profit compared to a casual £2 billion for Amazon.

The Shape of You singer reportedly earned a staggering £36 million in 2017 which is said to make him the richest solo pop star in the world surpassing Adele, Madonna and Beyonce.
