Elton John has been awarded Frances highest civilian award, the Legion dHonneur.

The British singer was given the honour by President Emmanuel Macron during a ceremony at the Élysée Palace on Friday 21 June, for Eltons work as a musician but also for his work on one of the first gay artists to give a voice to the LGBT community.

The French president described him as an icon that knows how to set an example as he pinned on the badge.

To receive this decoration, the day of the Fete de la Musique, makes it even more special, said Elton as he accepted the award.
