500 Days Of Summer can go two ways, depending on how you look at it – Tom was in the wrong and projected his unrealistic expectations onto Summer, making her the bad guy; or Summer was pure evil and totally lead Tom on.

Well, its star Joseph Gordon-Levitt has now had his say – and he agrees with the former.

The actor has corrected a fan who believe Zooey Deschanels character Summer Finn was the bad guy of the film, saying that it was mostly his character Tom Hansens fault.

A Twitter user with the name Emperor Justin tweeted: Still havent forgiven Zooey Deschanel for what she did to Joseph Gordon-Levitt in 500 Days of Summer.

Watch it again. Its mostly Toms fault. Hes projecting. Hes not listening. Hes selfish. Luckily he grows by the end. https://t.co/lEJ8uXlpJw

Mic drop.

If you havent seen 500 Days Of Summer, somebody in the Twitter mentions explained how Summer acted in the movie perfectly: Accurately represented her feelings to a manipulative “nice guy” who disregarded her words and instead projected his desires onto her unfairly and then he got mad when she acted on the feelings that she honestly represented instead of his wrongly projected desires.

The 2009 romantic comedy depicted a 500 day relationship between two colleagues, with Tom looking back over the failed romance.

While many people believed that Summer was in the wrong (spoilers ahead), after dumping Tom and getting engaged to another man soon afterwards, other viewers – lets face it, mainly women – noted that Summer never said she was in love with Tom and was honest about her feelings.

Its basically the Alex vs Alexandra drama of Love Island 2018, but on the big screen and with a soundtrack of The Pixies and The Smiths.
