It follows the cinematic trend of putting a group of people in the terrifying post-apocalyptic state of not knowing exactly what kind of monster is ending the world – and were living for it.

Kiernan Shipka wrapped up filming for the new season of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, but shes not ready to give up horror just yet, and is set to star in the horror movie, which follows a father and daughter struggle to survive what seems to be the end of the world.

The film, based on a book by the same name written in 1999 by Tim Lebbon follows the pair of them as they navigate a city which is slowly being overrun by what appears to be giant, flying bats.

Silence, much like in A Quiet Place, plays a central theme in the film and Kiernan plays a deaf girl who developed heightened senses and who is able to navigate the terrifying world.

According to Netflix: When the world is under attack from terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, 16-year old Ally Andrews (Kiernan Shipka), who lost her hearing at 13, and her family seek refuge in a remote haven.

But they discover a sinister cult who are eager to exploit Allys heightened senses.

Though the premise is similar to A Quiet Place, and in some ways the Bird Box, The Silence differs in a number of important ways.

Rather than starting after the apocalypse that leads to a world without sound, such is the premise of AQP, it starts the story in the beginning.

The creatures hunting them dont appear to be a malignant force of evil, like in Bird Box, but rather something pulled from the Jurassic Park.
