Game of Thrones: Maisie Williams Responds to Arya Stark Haters—Sort Of

The Game of Thrones cast is back on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, addressing some viewers most frequently asked questions about the show—including Sundays Battle of Winterfell. And while most of the questions were pretty general, one in particular has turned out to be timely. Ever since Arya Stark pulled off an impressive move in battle, defeating the Night King at the last possible second, most fans have been giddily celebrating—but some have griped that the show turned Arya into a character without flaws, whose strengths serve as wish fulfillment (i.e. a Mary Sue, in fan parlance). As one “caller” on Kimmel put it, “You expect me to believe a 90-pound girl can defeat an army of White Walkers?”

Luckily, Williams was unfazed: “Listen here, you shit,” she replied. “I know where you live. And Id be happy to add you to my list!”

Williams herself worried that fans really would hate Aryas big moment. But given the outpouring of celebratory memes, the vast majority of them were appropriately thrilled with the moment she had spent eight seasons training for.

The actress, alongside several of her castmates, first appeared on Kimmel to man the “Game of Phones” bank earlier this month, after the Season 8 premiere. Williamss question aside, most of the questions—and responses—have been downright silly.

When asked what Kit Harington smells like, Liam Cunningham replied, “He smells like a mixture of old yogurt and axe body spray. Its a real turnoff.” One caller simply addressed Lena Headey with the words, “Shame! Shame! Shame!” (As Headey sighed, “Oh, thats so original.”) Another caller asked Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays the supernaturally gifted Bran, where theyd left their keys—but his answer might have been more than they bargained for. “Theyre in between the cushions on your couch,” Wright said after rolling his eyes to the back of his head. “Would you like to know how youre gonna die?”

But perhaps the most delightful answer came from Sophie Turner, whose sense of humor has been on full display lately, especially after Aryas surprising sex scene last week. The caller asked about the differences between the books and the show. Turners explanation? “Well, the books are full of words that you read. And the show gets me PAID, motherfucker!”
