The Los Angeles Department of Transportation released a map Thursday of the route and closures for Saturday’s Women’s March LA in the downtown area.
Street closures begin at 8 a.m., according to the LADOT, which said that motorists should expect delays and congestion in and around the event area.
The event starts at Pershing Square and ends at City Hall, with 21,000 people listed as going and 42,000 interested in attending, according to the event’s Facebook page. Last year’s march drew and estimated 275,000 people.
The rally starts at 8:30 a.m. while the march starts at 10 a.m., according to the event’s website. Events at the main stage on Spring Street take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The map of the event from the organizers shows it starting on Fifth Street between South Grand Avenue and South Spring Street at Pershing Square with attendees slated to march until just past First Street at City Hall.
According to a map from the LADOT, there are 18 street closures (which includes two separate closures listed with the same number — 17 — with no explanation). They are listed below, from the first closure to the 18th closure:
• Southbound at 4th Street and Grand Avenue
• Eastbound at 7th Street and Olive Street
• Eastbound at 7th Street and Hill Street
• Eastbound at 7th Street and Broadway
• Eastbound at 7th Street and Spring Street
• Northbound at 5th Street and Main Street
• Northbound at 3rd Street and Main Street
• Northbound at 1st Street and Main Street
• Westbound at Temple Street and Spring Street
• Westbound at Temple Street and Broadway
• Westbound at Temple Street and Hill Street
• Southbound at Grand Avenue and 1st Street
• Southbound at Grand Avenue and 2nd Street
• Southbound at Grand Avenue and GTK (General Thaddeus Kosciuszko) Way
• Southbound at Hope Street and GTK Way
• Southbound at Figueroa Street and 2nd Street* (one of two closures with the same number —17)
• Southbound at Grand Avenue and 6th Street* (second of two closures with the same number —17)
• Southbound at Beaudry Avenue and 4th Street
Speakers at the event, according to the website, include Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif; Rep. Judy Chu, D-Pasadena; Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti; and actress Scarlett Johansson.

A special-events permit calendar on the Los Angeles Police Department site lists the crowd estimate at 200,000.
Additionally, a One Life March — which assembles at noon and starts at 12:30 p.m. — is set to have 15,000 people attend, according to the LAPD estimate. It assembles at El Pueblo de Los Angeles, 125 Paseo de La Plaza. The One Life March aims to “promote dignity of every human life from conception to natural death,” according to its website.
That route includes southbound Los Angeles Street, westbound Arcadia Street, northbound Spring Street, westbound Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, northbound Broadway, eastbound Alpine Street and northbound Alameda Street, with arrival at L.A. Historic Park.
