Heres The Heartfelt Letter Tony Romo Just Wrote For Jason Witten

Sports

You could probably say that things are getting serious between Tony Romo and Jason Witten.

The two longtime Dallas Cowboys teammates have been close since they both joined the league in 2003, and when Tony Romo retired from the NFL to become an announcer for CBS sports last year, Jason Witten wrote a heartfelt letter to Tony Romo and thanked him for everything.

“I must say that there is no one — and I mean no one — I would have rather had next to me on this journey other than Tony Romo,” he wrote in a letter he posted to Twitter last April. “While history might remember [Romo] for the wins and losses, as a Houdini-like playmaker, the epic fourth-quarter comebacks, the lack of playoff wins, or the Brett Favre-esque no-look passes, I will always remember much more.”

And on Monday, Tony Romo returned the favor by publishing his own letter of appreciation for Jason Witten.

“Its hard to describe how special Jason Witten is,” he wrote. “Sometimes in life you are lucky to come across someone that will change your life. Most of the time you dont realize it at the moment the profound impact and impression someone will have on you. The difference with Jason Witten is that I knew right away the impact he would have on me. Not only was Jason the most talented, humble and hardest working individual on our football team, but he was one of the most genuine, good-hearted people you could ever meet.”

Romo concluded the tweet with a special caption, calling Witten “The standard that every future cowboy will have to live up to. Thank you Jason Witten. You will be missed bro.”

Jason Witten announced he would be joining ESPNs “Monday Night Football” after 15 years in the NFL. While he and Romo wont be sharing a booth there doesnt seem to be any love lost between the longtime teammates.
