Is it ever the right time for a political satire? Thats for the people to decide, says Steve Carell, who has been tipped to star in a new satirical film by Jon Stewart.

Politics in 2018 is unarguably messy and scary for many people, but Steve told Metro.co.uk that he has no idea when its the right time for anything.

The star of new film Beautiful Boy, Steve said at the London Film Festival premiere: This film has taken ten years so the producers of this film thought it was important ten years ago – but now is just as right a time as ten years ago if not more, so I dont know, well see – thats for for the audience to decide.

Beautiful Boy tells the true story of a young man battling a years-long drug addiction and his fathers constant struggle to support his son and focus on the rest of his family.

When asked why it was important to tell this story, Steve said: I think there are so many misconceptions about addiction in general, that its a moral failing – which its not – and even if just that can be understood to a little bit of a greater degree?

Really any discussion about it, its rampant and so relevant right now and thats part of the reason I wanted to do it.
