Justin Timberlake‘s Super Bowl performance divided opinion, but JT is still winning.

While many were not impressed by the performance, raking up his old feud with Prince just to stick the boot in, the performance has given his new album a massive chart boost.

Thanks to the Super Bowl halftime show, Man Of The Woods is sitting at number two in the midweeks, according to the Official Charts Company.

He’s currently just behind The Greatest Showman soundtrack, which is just ahead in sales. But there are still three days worth of sales to go to see if JT can knock it off the top spot. It’s close, so it’s looking likely.

And then all the Super Bowl hate will have been worth it, as his performance didn’t go down as well as he might have hoped.

Some fans called it ‘underwhelming’ – ouch – and ‘inconsistant’, while Prince fans were gunning for him over his tribute to the late singer.

His performance featured no guests, and was branded as being a little ‘all over the place.’

And Prince fans brought up the little known fact that apparently the two had once had a feud, which reportedly stems from comments the late and great singer made about one of Justin’s first big hits, Sexy Back, in 2006. According to TMZ, at the time, Prince said: ‘For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!’

JT wasn’t too pleased with that, and then went ahead and included some diss lyrics just for Prince on Timbaland’s Give It To Me.

The lyrics that Justin sang on the track include: ‘Could you speak up and stop mu-mumbling? I don’t think you came in clear.

‘When you’re sittin’ on the top/It’s hard to hear you from way up here/Now I saw you tryin’ to act cute on TV.

‘Just let me clear the air…

‘We missed you on the charts last week/Damn, that’s right you wasn’t there/Now if se-sexy never left, then why is everybody on my s***?

‘Don’t hate on me just because you didn’t come up with it.’

And don’t hate if you just helped score him a number one.
