Warm your little World Cup-loving heart with this footage.

As the entire country gets behind our football team, willing them to make it to next Sundays final, the cries of footballs coming home have been ringing out in the streets.

Even Wireless festival saw impromptu performances of the 1996 hit in a show of patriotism towards the England team.

Well, what weve all wanted has happened – originators of that banger of a track, the Lightning seeds – who originally recorded the track with Baddiel and Skinner – have performed the song during a gig in Sunderland.

Its a moment that dishes out the chills.

The band were supported by The Bluetones and Reverend & The Makers, and it was the frontman of the latter who captured this epic moment on video.

Jon McClure wrote: Where better to be then with the Lightning Seeds last night?

Broudie is such a brilliant bloke n all. Was telling me and [guitarist] Ed Cosens about how they wrote the tune. Whole band are brilliant folk.

The song has already racked up the number one spot on the Vodafone Big Top 40 charts, with the Official Charts released this Friday, so the World Cup has proven a win for more than just the England team.

The track was originally released in 1996, then re-released in 1998 for the World Cup. The song is a reference to England hosting its first major football tournament since the 1966 World Cup, and now refers to bringing the trophy home.
